FEDERICO CORTESE, MUSIC DIRECTOR
Since 1958, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) has served thousands of young musicians from throughout New England.  Over the past 51 years, the BYSO has evolved from a single orchestra to one of Boston’s most prestigious arts organizations, with a programmatic scope that includes three full symphonic orchestras, a string training orchestra, a preparatory wind ensemble, four chamber orchestras, a chamber music program, and a nationally recognized string training program for underrepresented youth from inner-city communities. The organization celebrated its 50th anniversary with a sold-out Symphony Hall gala concert featuring Yo-Yo Ma in May 2008.

Details regarding the organization's ambitious 51st season that will feature works by Mozart, Beethoven, Stravinksy, and more will be available in August 2008.

The BYSO offers New England’s young musicians challenging and rewarding opportunities for artistic and personal growth. Learn more about how to become a member of one of the finest youth orchestras in the country.
