Since 1958, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) has served thousands of young musicians from throughout New England. Over the past 51 years, the BYSO has evolved from a single orchestra to one of Boston’s most prestigious arts organizations, with a programmatic scope that includes three full symphonic orchestras, a string training orchestra, a preparatory wind ensemble, four chamber orchestras, a chamber music program, and a nationally recognized string training program for underrepresented youth from inner-city communities. The organization celebrated its 50th anniversary with a sold-out Symphony Hall gala concert featuring Yo-Yo Ma in May 2008. Details regarding the organization's ambitious 51st season that will feature works by Mozart, Beethoven, Stravinksy, and more will be available in August 2008.
